The Race Register has gone live on the Cape Epic website, so now we can see who we're up against. We're listed as Bizweni Bundu Bashers, but hope to change the name if and when we get a sponsor. If you're interested in sponsoring us click here for more info.
There is no point in posting a full weekly summary as I've only ridden once this week as I've been taking it easy after the DC and resting a bit prior to Die Burger on Sunday. Die Burger is the last qualifier in the Western Cape for the Cape Argus in March and I really want to crack a good time so as to get into as good a starting group as possible.
So this week I only rode once (as said) which was a brilliant MTB ride around Lebanon with my regular crowd from Helderberg Cycles. The ride was quite pacey for 3 hours covering a tad under 50k's with 1005 metres of climbing. All in all a lot of fun!

Cape Epic - Team Sponsorship
Team Bizweni Bundu Bashers (Dean Finnie & Paul Hartmann) is looking for a sponsor or sponsors to partner with for the Absa Cape Epic. Ideally we'd like a single sponsor who could help significantly with the financial side of riding the Epic. However, we're also open to having more than one sponsor and breaking the deal into smaller packages.
So what can we offer a potential sponsor?
* Team name (complete change from current name to your name - for main sponsor)
* Logo on kit
* Logo on 2 bakkies (pick-ups) for one year
* Association with Absa Cape Epic, biggest and best MTB race in the world!
* Some TV coverage (can't guarantee how much)
* Also, as kit would be worn at other races and social rides, the logo would be seen around for up to two years, or however long the kit lasts.
What are we looking for?
* Assistance with entry fees
* 8 complete sets of kit (4 per team member) comprising jerseys, bib shorts, socks & shoes (1 pair each)
* Financial assistance with maintaining and servicing bikes prior to and during the Epic.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a local company or for an international company seeking to expand into new areas. The Epic is a highly respected MTB race which is seen by tens of thousands of people on the internet and DSTV/Sky Sports. The potential coverage for a sponsor through the Epic and beyond is huge and could benefit a company very nicely.
Paul rode in the Epic last year (results here) in team Boxers and finished 281st out of 435 finishing teams. I rode 80% of Paul's training rides with him last year and our training for the 2009 Epic is well under way. We're both at a good level of fitness and will improve considerably by March so there is a very strong chance of us finishing the Epic comfortably.
