First Class Honours In Procrastination

We rode for 3 hours last night which may well prove to be our only ride this week. I'm aiming for 4½ hours but can't see when I'll get to do the extra 1½ hours.

The bike goes for its full pre-Epic service on Thursday and I then want to leave it alone until the prologue test ride next Friday.

I can't quite believe that we're now 10 days from the start of the Epic. It all feels a bit daunting at the moment. Roons has summed up the packing nightmare well on his blog so I'll not go there. Suffice to say that my tendency to procrastinate is winning out at the moment.

Paul & I will plan the final bits later this week over a cold beer and then I'll do my final shopping spree. Already I've been told there are no more Crossmark tyres locally which is a bit concerning as I really don't want to change to another untested brand right now.

One thing I am really grateful for is the service package we've got from Petie at Helderberg Cycle World. This means we need to carry minimal spares for emergencies during the race but all maintenance, cleaning etc. will be done by his mechanics after each day's stage. This will also simplify the packing process once I can face starting it. Phew!

One slight problem with packing is that the Epic gives you a tog bag at registration on the Friday and expects you to repack everything into it as it's the only bag they will transport during the race. This does somewhat complicate the packing process as one will have to do it twice, but without knowing for sure how big the Epic tog bag is. Another reason to put it all off for a while longer...

Glad to know that I am not alone in my packing quests! I have found a solution for you - lists! It seems like you are packing by making a list when in effect you are not really - but it seems like it! My family are away for the weekend so I will have the whole dining room table to myself - so I am going to take advantage of it and start marking things off on my list!
